I would like to try to compare the accuracy of the street data of different GPS mapping software packages with your help. Here are a couple of tests. I already know that DeLorme Street Atlas USA Road Warrior Edition version 1.1 and TravRoute CoPilot 2001 fail both of these tests. If you have a different system and would like to try these two tests, or if you would like to add a test that would be great.
Go to the 92057 zip code and plot a route from 5408 Blackberry Way to 5400 Lariat Way. Does it have you go east on 76 and then right at Hitching Post? If yes, Hitching Post doesn't actually intersect 76.
Go to 92026 and do a route from 499 W Lincoln Ave (this is one house east of Centre City Parkway) to 1301 N Nutmeg St. If it takes you west on Lincoln and then right onto Centre City Parkway this doesn't go through either.
I've been playing with GPS mapping software for a number of years and I've been dissappointed with the accuracy of the street database. Within a few days of my post above I received the brand new DeLorme Street Atlas USA Deluxe and not only are the bugs above fixed but overall the street accuracy is far better. Wouldn't you know, 10 years of the same crappy data and within days of this post it's fixed! Obviously this forum has far more power than anyone imagined! :D
