he's right, plus when you switch out the battery, there's no reason to get the yellow top unless you intend to leave you stereo on full blast on for a while with the engine off. The yellow top is a deep cycle battery which is good for long power drains, but in the case of sound systems, the deep cycle battery takes longer to deliver instantanious surges of power for har sub hits. (this is the true purpose of the capacitor)
your 500W amp will probably draw around 40 amps at peak (somwhere aronud 20 amps most of the time) so your alternator and battery shouldn't have any problem powering it.

your better off spending money on doing the big 3 upgrade than a battery. upgrading that will make your current battery last longer and not put as much strain on your charging system. I plan on doing it in mine this winter.
