would mounting the amp directly onto the sub box damage the amp? do they have any shock suppression built it?
There are many "self powered" home theater subwoofers that have plate amplifiers attached directly to them. As amplifiers don't have moving parts the only real potential issue would be connectors working loose. If you run very high SPL's on a frequent basis then you may have an issue some day, but I'd say for average use it wouldn't be a problem.
Should be fine. Just be sure to decouple it (meaning carpet between box and amp at a minimum) and you should be gtg. The decoupling thing is mainly precautionary, but worth the effort for the peace of mind IMO.
for the most part you should be fine. We ran 1000wrms into 2 ported 12s with the amp mounted to the back of the box with no carpet or anything and this kid beats the hell out of his subs and never a problem in the 2 yrs before we changed the setup
Make sure you do the decoupling. At the very least. Or that you have some bracing keeping the side it is mounted on steady. I had an older system in a p/u that had the amp on the front of the box and the vibration wrecked havok on the soldering joints of the circuit board. The amp had to be repaired. To be fair though it had no bracing and shook the amp like a passive radiator (this was a long time ago before I knew anything about audio..... I think I made that box from plywood.. Seriously..)
