I've been searching this forum for tips on how to hook up my iPod to my 2000 coupe. I have the 12 disc changer. This is all new to me. I just got my first iPod and I'm anxious to hook it up to the Vette!!
You’ll also need the Peripheral Car Cable Adapter http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WjLDSMQ...250#morephotos. This cable connects the iPod2Car adapter to the cable (COR-HAR) that is currently attached to your 12 CD changer.
Since you already have the CD changer, it will be an easy hookup.
i believe you loose the cd changer if u go that route. Check out the C5 FAQ there is a really easy and inexpensive way to tap in if you have the cd changer

look for docvette or vettedoc or something along those lines, think it's on page 3
I may indeed lose the 12 disc changer but right now it's giving me problems anyway so I don't think losing the changer would be a big deal.
If I could replace it at a low cost I would but mainly I want to use the iPod
If it helps I have the iPod Nano.
After some thought, I don't mind losing the 12 changer so how does that affect the mP3 hookup? Easier I hope!!!!
The description I gave you was loosing the CD changer. You simply unplug the CD changer from the cable (HAR-COR), plug the Peripheral Car Cable Adapter into the cable you removed from the CD changer and into the iPod2Car adapter, set the dip switches are per the instructions and you're finished.

Chas,
Your talking about the cable that's under the carpet on the passenger side? I assume that's where I make the Car Cable Adapter? I haven't checked yet to see if there IS a cable there but there should be.
Your CD changer should be in one of the three storage compartments in the back of your car. The cable that's plugged into it will be plugged into the Peripheral Car Cable Adapter and that will be plugged into the iPod2Car Adapter.
I hope this answers your questions, but if not, let me know.
The ebay link looks like it plugs into your radio. You can also install by just pulling the cable out of the changer and plugging it into a PXHGM2 cable on one end and the iPod2car adapter on the other. This is the install I used and was very happy with it
For some reason I just can't picture what this looks like. Where is the iPod? It's not back where the 12 disc changer is??? Everyone seems to be saying unplug the changer and plug in the iPod adapter but the changer is in the back of my vette! What am I missing? Maybe someone could post a photo or two?
The iPod2car adaptor is a 2" X 2" box that has a long cable that plugs into the bottom of the iPod. You can run that cable where ever you want in the car. You can put it to the center console or where ever you want - I just have it behind the passenger seat with enough cable to reach either front seat

After doing this installation is the iPod controlled from the factory radio/CD head controls?

Yes, but not perfectly. I've had enough trouble with the controls on the head unit that I just use the iPod. Also, if your audio is low when using the iPod, you can set the audio dip switch on the iPod2Car adapter to "on." I believe it's dip switch #6, but I'm not sure. If you do this, it makes your head unit controls even less reliable.

I tried to order these iPod parts from Crutchfield but got this message when I tried to check out on their website;"This item does not work with your factory stereo" They appear to me to be the correct parts.
