System started in my C4
Frame for the false floor. Test fitted the storage bin doors and got those ready. Behind the doors is where the amp and crossovers are going to be mounted.

I also got the plates built for the subs and got them mounted. 3/4" MDF wasn't enough for these particular subs. I had to make the plates 1-1/4". Guess the JBLs are a little deeper than some.

The front all mounted up.

The deck wired and ready to go. Power, 12v switched, and power antenna all checked out. I also got the 1k ohm resistors put in, and that has taken care of the flashing SYS after I remembered to clear the codes.

Slowly moving along. All I have left is to build the plate and install the front driver side speakers, install the wiring for that, the power and ground cable for the amp, and then just connecting it all up. *Hopefully* I'll have it far enough along to hear tunes tomorrow night.
I have to take everything off though, as I forgot to drill a hole in the back for the amp ground wire.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Nice RC-51, I sold my '06 R1 to get the C4. I kept my gear so hopefully in a couple years I'll be able to get back up on 2 wheels.
Anyway, it's done. I might redo the plates for the subs, but I haven't decided what I want to do yet. For now, it's functional, it's hidden, and it sounds amazing! So, on to some pics.
As I had said, my intent was to have a great sounding system, and at the same time have it completely hidden, save the obvious aftermarket deck in the dash.
Here are a few from the last couple of days finishing it up.
Drivers side components mounted

Here's the fuse and power cable for the amp. Took me a little bit to figure out how to mount it, and this works out well. Small bolts with washers and nuts through the fenderwell did the trick nicely, along with some silicone to seal it up.

What components?

The amp and crossover rack installed in the car with the storage bin covers.

8" JBL subs hiding in the stock locations.

The star of the show. The iPod interface is going to take a little getting used to, but with 15gb on tap, random works just fine for me too.

Since hidden was the primary theme here, to make the rear functional for cargo still, I screwed a piece of 1/2" MDF over the amp and crossovers. I might put in some hinges and a locking mechanism down the road once I decide how I want to do it.

Going...........

Going...........

Gone. What stereo equipment?

From the front. The lip is gone now. I took the carpet where it originally wrapped down the lip and pulled it up and screwed it down between the false floor frame and the storage bin doors.

There you have it! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It sounds fantastic. Like I said, I might redo the sub plates, as the subs sit a little higher than I like. I have time to think about that though and figure out how I want to do it.
Whatcha think guys?
Otherwise it looks good. My system is on a stand still at the moment, I have not had a chance to get back out to the garage to work on mine..
there are few things more frustrating than jamming out then having your system suddenly die becaue of protection mode.
check out www.xoxide.com for 12v fans of varying sizes. their amperage draw is small enough to be run off the remote lead to the amp and ground with the amps ground.
I *almost* made provision for future fans when I was building the rack. Looks like I'll go ahead and do that in the near future.
I'm going to roll with it like it is for a week or so and see if anything else comes up that I decide I want to change or like, then I'll probably take it apart and do the fan action. I know exactly where I can put them too.
Thanks for the link RadioFlyer!
