Interest in a non-Corvette install thread? ???for the mods???
So I'll leave this one alone - looks like most people are interested in the subject...unless I hear from someone who has a problem with it... but remember - in the future - this IS the CORVETTE FORUM...so other threads should be minimal.

Thanks for keeping it.
BTW, I have driven that thing... it's ill handling... noisy (454)... hot... and the coolest thing this side of sex.

My next amp purchase is either a Butler or an ArcAudio.... I need to hear this...

I've tried Morel once before, and they are very comparable to the Dyn's. Very similar design and construction, perhaps identical.

The sub enclosure taken out of the mold, with some internal bracing in place. I'll add more bracing tomorrow before I glass the wood in.

I took this down to the beach today. I filled it with beach sand, then transferred the sand into a rectangular box to calculate volume. The internal volume was right around 2.3 cu. ft., without the bracing. The 13W7 wants to see something like 2.1 cu. ft. including the displacement of the driver itself. I'll do a final calculation after I add more bracing and glass. Then, I can figure out how to fashion a baffle board to stick onto the front of this thing.
A couple more pics...
Machining enclosures for the passive crossovers. (My brother seems to think I got a little carried away.
)
Crossovers assembled to the circuit boards:

I still have to fab some covers for the X-over enclosures. And I need to select some feed-thru terminal strips for the I/O, though I'm having a hard time finding some I like. I just may fab some up myself.
Hope y'alls are having fun watching. I'm having fun doing stuff.

I made the crossovers and housings this past weekend. But I also started a bunch of other things all at once. As such, not a lot of new audio-specific progress to report.
I did get my new-old Super Sport dashboard in. The want/need to do this to the car is what sparked the whole audio upgrade thing:

Much improved over this:

While I had the dashboard out, I decided to pull/inspect the heater core (which turned out to be ok as-is). However, R-and-R of the heater required me to also remove the front inner fender for access. So, I took the opportunity to run a couple 4AWG power wires through the firewall:

4AWG grommets are hard to find. Here's my bro turning some on the lathe for me. (Though I can run the engine lathe, my brother is the actual machinist in the family.)

Finished product:

My next project (on top of all the other in-progress stuff) involves replacing these ratty kick-panels/speakers that came with the Chevelle:

I have a nice new set of Auto Meter gauges to install this weekend. This will involve running another bunch of wires and installing new senders, etc. So, I may not have new progress pics for a couple weeks. I'll keep y'alls posted.

Oh, the toggle switch on the lower left will turn on my amplifiers.

I finally attacked my kick panels.
MDF speaker rings attached to the plastic kick panels:

Speaker rings taped, I’ll mold Bondo*Glass around this:

My first cut at Bondo*Glass:

I am pleased with the general shape. But, the Bondo*Glass cracked/separated at the edges and did not adhere well to the plastic kick panels. I may not have cleaned the plastic well enough to promote good adhesion.

Next weekend I’m going to give it another go. I’m going to try cleaning the plastic better, and perhaps will abrade the plastic a little. I might even try a thin coat of fiberglass resin. I’ll have to do a little experimenting and report my lessons-learned here.
Meanwhile, under the hood, I’ve been doing a little upgrading, as well.
My old, stock, anemic alternator:

Part One of the so-called Big Three – New Powermaster 100A alternator with 4AWG charging wire directly to the battery:

While I was in there, I did a little cosmetic work including GMPP cast valve covers, MSD 8.5MM Ignition Wires, and Billet Specialties wire looms.
150A Stinger Circuit breaker:

Enjoy.
