Clarion DRZ9255. Eclipse 8053. Nakamichi and Mcintosh. Hmm there was a great Denon model as well. Alpine f#1. Few old Alpine units like the 7998.
If you want SQ units look for Burr-Brown 24bit converters. Most SQ units are dead as well (no built in amps). Most also have 2-3, or sometimes 4 way crossovers built in.
For a quiality SQ unit on a budget, the 9815, 9833, 9835 are all pretty good units. You can find the 8053 occasionally for around $250 used and as little as $300 new (just got one on ebay for $290)
As a side note most competitors are sponsored at the top level and are obligated to run brand XXX. Sometimes those units have one of the above mentioned chassis and internals behind the "new" faceplate. I would say most run the Clarion or a Nakamichi or Denon unit, possibly a Mcintosh.
