Default Time for a new sub box project...

The other week I installed a partition in my Z06, it looks great and worked but looking at it gave me some ideas of a different sub box. I currently have a ed 13kv.2 in my car and it sounds great but I want something a little more "flashy". I have heard great things about the new ed slim fit 10 inch subs, and they only have a mounting depth of 3 inches. So I will make a partition that is 4.5 inchs thick that will hold 2 10s subs, the cubic space should be about .75 total and a lot of people are getting good sound out of these subs with .3 each, but .3-.5 each is ideal so this should be perfect. I ordered the subs yesterday, and will hopefully order the rest of my supplies today. Stay tuned for pics.

Yeah I doubt I will be booming like 15s but 2 10s still has more surface area then 1 12, they will be getting 200-220 rms each, I just want to try something new and this seems like a fun inexpensive project, especialy after i recoup some of my losses by selling my current partition and sub/box. Its basically just trying something different. Plus I got a few ideas for the sub box to make it look nice

what happened to the other sub box with the 3 12"ers that you had?

i would look at companies other then ED as well. I believe the new clarion slim line blows the competition out of the water according to the reviews it's getting. It's a common enough brand where you could go and take a listen to one for yourself before you bite the bullet on the ED sub

I ended up selling that box, it was going to take too much room, even though it was a VERY nice box. Plus it had room for 2 amps and I only had one and i would basically have to redo my whole stereo since i couldnt just leave the two amp holes empty.

I heard good reviews on the eDs and I am not crazy picky on my audio, so I am sure they will be fine, and at 70 bucks shipped each, i think i cant go wrong

I just checked out the clarions on ebay, about 20 bucks more a sub, if i get these and dont like them then i can always sell them and pick up the clarions. I cant find how much air space they need though.

Speaking of partition sub boxes... I just made mine and should be going in this weekend if my subs/amp get here. It started out as a homemade partition out of 3/4'' mdf then I simply put a box on the back of it. The only drawbacks are the space available height wise in the Z. I only have 9 1/8'' in enclosed height so that limited me to 8" subs. Anyway, I'm putting two Kicker S8L7-2's in with a Kicker 750.1 running them. Should be interesting at least and LOUD given that they'll be right behind my head! Not to hi-jack, sorry. I'll start my thread and pics when it's finished hopefully sunday...
