Default home pc fan controller powered by car?

I wanted to run my home pC fan controller in the car to obvisouly control some fans. why? I had a few ideas I wanted to try out.

can this be ran from the cars 12-14v?

I know in the 4 wire connection the 2 black wires are grounds.
yellow is 12v
and red is 5v

any idea on how to do this or if it will even work?

what model fan is it? Just use the 12V line. There should be 12v to the controller and then the fan should connect to the controller.

I'm going to install 12 v fans with temp sensors to kick them on when the temp gets too high.

id be willing to say the controller doesnt use the 5volt line, because fans dont, so just hook up the grounds and +12volt and bam you are set

the fan controller could use the 5v to slow down the fans. if you actually do need the 5v you can get that from a simple voltage regulator and capacitor. it's a very novice regulated power supply that you can solder up in a couple minutes

www.xoxide.com sells 12volt fans of varying sizes. i used 4 of their 70mm fans in my amp rack. the amperage draw is so low that they can be run off the amp's turn on lead wire with no problems.

well I tried a 12 volt power supply last night and I cant get it to work.
I tried the 12v with a half dead 9v on the other 2 terminals for the 5v and still nothing...

checked it in the computer again and it still works. I dont know...
