I have the same speakers and am trying to decide the same thing. I am currently thinking about mounting them in the door pannel.

C6 tweeter location...suggestions
I have DLS' 3-way Iridium speaker to be mounted in front. I already have Komoman's precut plate in which I'll mount the 6.5 mid/bass down low, the 3" midrange up top where the "tweeters" currently reside. However, I'm uncertain as to the best location for the 1" tweets to maintain a fairly level/accuate soundstage given the limitation of mounting points. Some like it low on the a-pillar, some down low with the mid/base. Suggestions and similar experiences are welcomed.

How about trying them mounted "down low" with the midbass? A bit out of the ordinary, but who knows how it may sound until you try it.
You can do a temporary mount with velcro or double sided tape.

How about trying them mounted "down low" with the midbass? A bit out of the ordinary, but who knows how it may sound until you try it.

I think for sound staging you're better off with this than in the A pillar. I have the tweets mounted in the "mid" position right now and the tweets can be fatiguing. Try just fixing the pod to the plate somehow to see how it sounds. You can always angle it upward later on.

Steve, yup, I was looking at that possibility today. I was thinking surface mounting down in the vicinity of the mid/bass, a little higher and more forward toward the knee well and fabbing it to angle it slightly up and towards the occupants. The only thing is is that I really dislike those basketball grills

I'm going to try mounting them inside the grill of the bose sub woofer angled up. I'll let you know.
BTW - the Mid woofer fits perfectly in the TheKomoman mount and the 3 in mid drops right into the oem upper mount (the sound guide ridge may need to be cut down - I'd plan on it). No need to seal since the mids are closed backs.
As a temp installation I am mounting both crossover in the door with the JL 300/2 driving the mid sub and tweeter and the 300/4 crossed to the mids.

Check this out, Dynaudio System 340, kept tweeters down low similar to doing kick panels, better imaging due to distance, and also less fatigue also, no need to angle tweeter since it's a dome, has good off-axis response.
Same with Focal K2 Power, except not dome tweeter like Dynaudio, moved tweeter up for better response.

I mounted mine in the upper corner of the mid bass hole and angled them up toward the center of the car. I had to make a bracket to hold them in place. The sound is awsome but my knee blocks the drivers tweet. Not an optimal situation. These speakers rock but a three way set up in the C6 is difficult. If I had it to do over again I would go two ways.

Hmm if you had it to do over again, don't you run into the exact same problems with a 2 way? Tweet in the upper location can be fatiguing, tweet down low is usually blocked. I would think that if anything the midrange in the c6 is a benefit having the ability to put it up high in the door panel. Especially since the DLS midrange is playing 300hz to about 7k, or almost the entire vocal range.
Have any of you guys played around with the tweets down low in the kicks to equalize path lengths? Have heard a lot of cars this way that stage very well ... just a thought.
