i just tried test fitting my Pioneer GM-5100T in my 69 vert, and its way to large. its dimensions are 12 Wide, 12.75 Deep, and 2.38 High.
its much to tall to mount to my rear wall, and i loose too much of what little trunk space i have if i put it on the floor. its also too thick to put behind the seats.
since it looks like im looking for a new amp, i want to go 4x channel this time. it will be running 2x 4x6 pionner (20RMS) and 2x 6x9 pioneers (40RMS)
so it looks like im looking for something around 50RMS 4x, and something that is very compact. the smaller the better. also the cheaper the better. im not looking for a real high quality amp, but something thats economically friendly and will do what i need.
I wouldn't bother amping the 4x6s, especially if their RMS is 20x2. IF you are running an aftermarket head unit, you're probably near the limit of the 4x6s anyway.
ive got a kenwood exceleon 22rms head unit. i wasnt sure if it would be better to run all 4 off the amp, or the 4s off the head unit and 6s off the amp.
so it looks like im looking for a 2 channel amp at 50RMS now.
what are the dimensions on it, and whats your asking price?
right now im looking at rockford fosgate punch 200a4 (50w x 4) and is pretty small at 9.6w and 9.7h.
im also lookig at a JVC KS-AX3300 (65x2) which fits even better at 10 5x16th H and 7 3/4W. the only part im not likeing about this one is Crutchfield has no reviews, and Epinions also have no reviews or even specs on it.
you can find many on ebay. I got a used 4 ch Alpine for $30. For smaller amps, chec out MTX and BOSS...the quality is certainly not high end, but neither are the prices.
