Ive been shopping around for the different peripherals for my next system. I really dont want to spend upwards of a $1000 on a head unit. Here is what I am Looking for:
Must be double Din
Must have input for backup camera
Must be touch screen
Must play DVD/CD/CDR/DVDR/MP3
Does not need ipod input
Also, I will most likely be hooking up components in the front and a couple 10 inch subs in the back. I will most likely be running a 4 channel amp to power the subs and components. Any ideas on a budget Double Din Touch screen head unit would be great. I have looked at Kenwood Units at around the 550 mark shipped from the auction site. I dont want a unit that is going to give me problems, but I dont want to break the bank.
I bought the Kenwood DDX 6019 for 600.00 brand new and the rear camera is an addtional 150.00 for this unit. Wont have it in for a few more weeks yet but it is still a good price on a nice double din with many options to choose from.
I've seen the Avic D3 for about 800 on some sites. scrounge the classifieds and you can probably pick up some used but good speakers and amps pretty cheap.
haha, it is a lot of work. But I think if you just buy one from ebay and try to do it in your free time. It shouldnt be so bad. by the time you finish the bezel you could have saved up for a double din unit

I did mine and its not very hard. Just takes alot of time. I bought a second bezel on EBAY and have a total of 61.00 into mine, 75.00 if you count the id plate i bought to add a little touch to it. I am going to do a second one soon to see if I can get even better result than what i did the first time. The savings went into the rest of the system.
Good Luck.
