I would like to know too. I would like to leave it down all the time. The radio should still work just fine. The rest of the time I am listening to the iPod hooked up to the radio.
well i can tell you with it down you will lose radio reception no questions asked. im pretty sure on the c5 the stock bose amp and the antenna use the same turn on lead meaning you would have to gain access to the actuall antenna and disconect it there, prly removing rear wheel well cover and just unplugging it or running a switch on it inline

If they're all the same I might be able to help.
In my '03 Vert I found it last week. Pull the carpet down on that side of the trunk. Behind it you'll find the connector for the antennas wire and the power wire. With the radio off, disconnect the power connector wire. You're done. If you do it with the radio on the antenna will stay up.
I still had good reception on a local FM station but I'm sure you will lose a large amount of reception on the road.
I hooked mine back up. I was only doing it so I could unbolt the antenna temporarily to install new side markers.
