Bose system upgrade $70
After doing some reading on this forum, I realized that lots of others are very disappointed in the sound of this system. Ripping it all out and starting over was not an option for me. Instead, I decided to disconnect the center front speaker and replace the door speakers with Boston S35s from Crutchfield. The result - a BIG improvement. Different settings of the bass, midrange, and treble were needed. To my ear, the sound went from awful to decent. That's not bad for such a minimal cost.

Were the door panels easy to remove / install and do they squeek/rattle now?
Removing the door panel is pretty easy. When reinstalling, getting the metal hooks engaged back into the top of the door was difficult the first time. The door panel needs to be nearly vertical, then lifted up and pressed in and down at the top to get these hooks engaged.
There is a low level mono signal coming from the rear speakers as I understand it. Therefore I don't think it's worthwhile to replace those.
My point of this thread is to assist others like myself who were shocked by the poor sound quality of their system, to make a decent improvement easily and inexpensively. You will not get a "golden ear" audiophile system, but it will sound better.
It is a higher level in the '07s but unless they did some major re-wiring at the factory (doubtful) the signal is definitely mono. My advice has been and continues to be don't bother unless you are HEARING the rear and the difference in the voice of the speakers is glaring to your ear.

cool. glad you like your upgrades. cant beat cheap upgrades
