Default Help changing from XM to Sirius please..

Good Morning everyone. I just need a little bit of help changing from boring XM to Sirius if possible. I have a 07 C6 with Bose, no navigation. I was chatting with a rep from Crutchfield online and he said they have an adapter to switch from the two. Has anyone done this ? Where is the existing XM box located.

Once done is this an automatic swicth over or do you have to call Sirius and give them codes, etc. Thanks for your help !!

The box you're looking for is the SIR-GM1. I changed the XM out for one of those last Saturday in my '06 vert and I put one in a buddy's '07 coupe last year.

On a vert the XM is under the waterfall and involves removing the 2 pop-connectors from the trunk separator, the two torx-head screws on top of the waterfall and a single christmas tree fastener on the passenger side at the bottom. Then there are 3 10mm nuts holding in place the bracket to which the XM module is secured. Pull those off, then FINALLY you can get the 3 8mm nuts off the XM module itself.

On a coupe the XM is above the left rear wheel well. That one is VERY easy to get to. All you have to do is pull the carpet back and you'll see the module - it's in a plastic carrier that's clipped in place.

In either case you can use some double-sided foam tape to hold it in place, and I used a few zip ties to make sure it's secure. For the antenna I just pulled the plastic clip from around the sat lead for the XM (the brown mustard colored one) and put it on the Sirius box. I wrapped a zip tie on that and taped it down to the box to secure it.

For the moment anyway they are 2 separate companies and you'll have to setup an account with Sirius and get that radio activated/authorized. If you are currently paying for the XM in the Vette then you'll need to call XM and cancel the account - they have no way to know whether or not you're using it and will keep billing you. If you're still on your free trial or that has expired and the XM isn't active, nothing you need to do.
