Wish I would have done it sooner. My system kicks bass big time and the lights are steady. Was going to pony up for the HD alternator but was doing heads and cam and thought why not upgrade the wiring while I'm at it, boy am I gald I did. Went 2 GA for all the wires. I think I spent about 20 dollars in all.
I did it with 4GA wire. I am running 1700 watts and get a 13.9 -14.0 volt reading when the car is running and the bass is booming. Very good mod, and well worth the $$$ IMHO.
finished it up and its too easy not to do. I asked about going bigger but everyone said it wasn't necessary to go bigger with what i had. Noticed a nice improvement hadn't had a chance to push it and see the kind of light dimming improvement is.
I decided to go to the 2 GA because the battery wire was already 4 GA and I wanted to have the wires excede the system as opposed the the system exceding the wires. I pretty much go overboard anyways.
haha i wanted to go over board, but was talked out of it by a couple people here. haha. Comparing the wire gauges, the new stuff i put in seemed thicker than the stock stuff. Maybe if I ever go to a bigger amp or something i may go bigger.
