Why? There are some kick butt single DIN units out there that can walk circles around most DDs.

Why go through all the trouble and expense of hacking up your dash for a DD when you can get a single din that does the same things. JVC even has some with nav and DVD. Much easier. If the C5 came with a DD then I would agree.

i think you missed the point vette-kid. he was saying if your car came DD and you didnt have to mod it... not if you could fit a double din with mods

what he said...

and remember, bigger is better 6 - 7 inch touchscreen is better than the 3.5 inch on the single din JVC units.

We don't need no stinking "dvd, nav, touchscreen, just to name a few features." I'll be happy with my little ole Pioneer P9 wasting space

Oops! I guess I miised the point. I assume dhe was talking about C5's based on his screen name. Anyway, bigger would be nice. But im looking at the new line from JVC, KD-AVX33/38 (something like that). I dont really need to be able to wath DVD in my car, and I can navagate pretty well. But A built in bluetooth, USB, Sat ready, that can play dvd, JPG files, etc. Pretty slick in my book. Of course if I had a DD id go with the AVIC-xx. I just have to find a way to fill that other half din without it looking cheesy.

Do yourself a favor.. make your own! It is really not that hard.. it just takes a little patience, some sanding, more patience, a lot of sanding, then some painting, MORE sanding, patience, SANDING.. umm.. I think you get the point.. lol.

I just did mine a few weeks ago, I will have pictures up soon of my whole project. I have been holding off on posting them really because I like to wait until I can show the finished project.

would really like to see some pics... I'm more of an electronics (computers, home/car audio, security, and some box building) wish I had the skills to work with fibre glass, plastic, and paints.... let me know how that comes out....

Oh I am with you on the much better with computers or other electronics. This was my first attempt every at reworking plastic. I was nervous as hell chopping on my vette. My back up plan was that I bought a new dash piece that I could put in the car so I could take the old one out and cut on it and work on it for as long as it took to get it right. I will be selling the "new" dash piece very soon.. it was only in my car for like 2 months.

I guess I could drop a teaser picture just to get you all started. I will hopefully be posting the full thread next week. Until then..

bbently40:

Shoot me an email with what you are selling the radio bezel for. I am interested. Pretty much the same reason as you, want to experiment on my current bezel for the double-din radio....

Thanks.
