can you just make a top for the rear storage compartment and install a sub in it or do you need to make a box for it? 1993 coupe
did a search but all the pictures are no longer there.
I have a 92 convertible, not sure if the compartment is the same, but I just got done putting in a few layers of sound deadening material all around, so I got a good look at everything. Seems to me like the compartment is solid enough with a few layers of dynamat with the exception of a hole towards the front where some cables feed through. I imagine you could silicone up the wires and have an airtight box when you put a lid on top.
Yes you can just cut a top for it and bolt it in where the lid system bolts. However th fiber glass is thin. You might want to epoxy a piece of 1/4" hardboard/pegboard to the big flat areas. I ran 2 10's in mine without anything, but I recall not being happy with those polks also. hmmm.
I own a '79 C3 and want to do the same thing you guys are doing. I was wondering...
What size Sub are you guys using?
~is it a low profile one?
~does the rear compartment have enough VOLUME for the 10" sub?
~are you cutting out the lid/top for the sub or are you making a totally different top/lid?

you can do the same thing you will have to make new top for the compartment. I had a 81 and there was enough room. the only tricky part is you need to have access to your battery. but the power wires to your amp will be only a few feet long. make a few paper templates of the compartment then cut them out of wood. here is the pic of the one I did for my 93
