Default subwoofer confusion

I purchased a Kicker CVR 10 and have a question on hooking it up. it has dual 2 ohm voice coils. with a 2 chanel amp can you just hook one chanel to each coil? the instructions that came with it show it wired either parallel (this would give me 1 ohm load) or series (this would give me 4 ohms load) both diagrams just show one set of leads going to the amp. I have a 200 watt 2 chanel amp now that might not be enough. what would be a good resonably priced amp? it is rated at 300 rms and 600 peak

wire it to 4 ohms, and bridge the amp. this is the best way to do it, that amp will work just make sure you arent clipping your gains

Your amp will deliver the same amount of power bridged into 4 ohms as it does individually into 2 ohms. You also have the advantage of a higher impedance circuit which will give a better damping factor and less speaker line loss.

where does the second voice coil get its input from? it looks like it is just hooked up to itself. is there a conection in the speaker itself?

That is correct for 4ohm operation. The two speaker coils are now wired in SERIES as opposed to PARALLEL. Using a dc signal for example, the signal goes into one voice coil and out to the in of the other and out back to the amp.
