Power wire for c5 HU install?

Power wire for c5 HU install?
When I ordered the wiring harness for my 99, crutchfield had a little warning pop up that said I would have to locate my own power wire because the harness wouldnt have one. Well, the harness does seem to have one... but just incase I misunderstood, does anyone know why they gave me this warning?

yes because the wire in that harness is dead, basically its a standard gm wiring harness but on the vette there is no juice there. you have to either tap into the pink i believe accesory wire at the ignition harness, or into the fuse box. read the C5 FAQ and post back if u got more questions

Pentavolo is right.... when you take out the stock bose HU you have to pull power and illumination from another source... I pulled power from the passenger footwell.... either fuse 15 or there's a ground, red and yellow wire smashed in the top left hand corner of the footwell... I just spliced the red wire there.... you can pull illumination from the HVAC harness right below the stereo....
