what is the best way to go about putting a subwoofer into a C4 corvette. I heard the rear speakers are powered can u go off them. Or how did u go about putting you sound system into your vette?
The rear Bose speakers are powered but you cannot power a sub off them as the sub would require too much current from the circuit powering the rear speakers.
To do the job right you have to run a dedicated fused power wire from the battery directly to the sub woofer. You can wire a relay into the rear speaker power wire for the remote turn on wire for your sub.
If you are not proficient in wiring I'd do some reading or take it to Best Buy or your local car stereo installer familiar with Bose systems.
Honestly, i think your best bet would be to install a mid range CD player and get something like a midlevel MTX amp or something for the sub... if you'd rather not do that and leave the stock system alone, get a bass tube with a built in amp to amplify an analog signal from the stock head unit.
well i have two 12s in the back of my `96 vette thats powerd by one amp...its not to the extrem or even that loud...its basically jus perfect from what all my buddys say...you can not power a sub by your stock back speakers...its not enough power...basically what i have done in my car...EVERTHING in my car that is audio wise is after market...my head unit...the speakers on the floor an back is after market..even the speaker wires it self..no my vette is not riced out...no i dont have dvd players or games or anything...i enjoy listening to my music with just a little more bass..rather its classic rock or rap..even counrty...but my opinon..dont go to the exterm...its a small compartment inside an all you basically need is one or maybe even two
