I have installed a Pioneer Premier DEH-P5901B Head unit and 2 10" Kicker CVR subs. I plan on purchasing some JL or Infinity 6x9s and 4x6s for the 450/4 JL amp I have.
Does all this sound like its good for a vet or too much?
What amp should I look into for my subs. I was looking at a JL 1000/1 or Kicker 1000/1. Any suggestions???
Thanks
IMO, the airspace in a vette is so small that you really don't need anymore than 500W of subwoofer power unless you want to go into DB drag racing.
Also, I'm against oval speakers (especially 4x6). The oval shaped cone creates a very strange augmented sound wave compared to circular speakers where the wave is uniform. If you have the space for a 6x9" i'd consider a 6.5" component set first.

I don't like odd shaped speakers myself, I would go with component
speakers.

What speakers would you recommend?
I am looking at JL component sets but they dont seem to have much, Kicker has nothing (my brands of choice obviously).
Infinity makes some good 4x6 circulars (Infinity Kappa 462.7cfp).
Infinity also makes a good 6.5 (Infinity Kappa 63.7i).
What you all think? I have never had infinitys, some say they are good.
I've been an alpine man since i started building my own systems. (currently running a set of 4 Alpine SPX 177r components) The infinity speaker i've heard have excellent highs and decent mids.
I haven't heard JL's speakers but if they're anything like the rest of their equipment, they're excellent quality but at a steep price. If you're going to go JL, I would highly suggest looking at previous year models or ebay for pre-owned equipment.

The best thing for you would be to listen to as many different brands as you can as the sound can be so different from one to the other, and it
would be better if you could listen to them in a car, because listening to
them in the store just won't give you a true picture of how they will sound in a car.
We can all say oh I love my JL, Infinity ect... but the bottom line is if you don't like the characteristics of the speaker [too bright too muddy]
ect... you will be unhappy.
One last thing if you are going for loud you might want to look at the SPL rating of the speakers, there is a big difference from 87 db @ 1 watt to 92 db @ 1 watt in sound level and how much power you have to put to the drivers. No system will survive if you are clipping the amps all day.
