Default Wiring question for iPod connection

I have an iPod adapter (Harman Kardon Drive + Play) that I am going to connect to my c5. The only part that I am not sure about is the power supply from the adapter unit. There are 3 wires (Yellow -ignition, Red accessory, and Black -ground).
I am going to wire this into the connection in the passenger footwell. I know that I should connect yellow to yellow and black to black. But what do I do with the red (accessory) wire from the adapter? Do I just not need this? I don't want to connect it to orange because I believe that the orange wire is "always on". Any help would be appreciated. Also, I tried to look at the schematics on the forum, but I have no clue how to read these. Thanks!

from sticky notes:

I added an aftermarket Headunit but it won't turn on, what do i do now?
When the bose head unit is removed from the wire harness the accessories power lead is disconnected by the pcm. The acc wire is what 'tells' your headunit to turn on so you'll have to tap into some other source for this. The easiest place to tap this lead from is fuse number 22 under the passenger floor board.

Well, I got it to work correctly. Initially, I only connect the two yellow wires and the two black (ground) wires. Didn't stay on, so I connected the Orange (hot) wire in the footwell to the red (acc) wire and now everything is working. Turns on and off with the car.

I just installed my Drive and Play today and I couldn't figure out how to hard wire it also... and wound up using the cig lighter plug in.

Where in the footwell is the "connection" you hooked the yellow and black wires to? I know about the #22 empty fuse slot and you're supposed to hook the red wire to that , but I am confused about the "connection" your referring to regarding the yellow and black wire.

A couple questions about the results of your hook up:
1. When you turn the Drive & Play off, does the IPOD power down (shut off) also,or does it continue to play?

Thanks....

There is a small bundle of 3 wires in the passenger footwell area. They are on the LEFT side. There is a yellow, black, and orange wire together and they usually have some black electrical tape on the end.
Let me know if you can't find them and I can post a picture. My car is a 99 but I think most are in the same place.
I connected black-black, yellow-yellow, orange-red (on drive+play).
The unit powers on and off with the car, but you can also turn it off manually with the controller. I think the iPod will stay on unless you turn it off manually. I don't know that there is anything you can do about that as it is a function of the way the iPod works. I wired the controller into the (useless) cupholder to hide it. Also, I wired the display into the ashtray area. The iPod connection wire I ran into the armrest console so that I could hide it too. Everything is connected to the main unit that I put behind the passenger seat area.

Is your 99 coupe equipped with the remote 12 disc CD changer in the rear? My 03 is equipped with the remote changer and I'm wondering IF this bundle of wires is what runs back to the changer?

My 99 coupe was not originally equipped with the 12 CD changer, but I installed one buy installing the required COR-HAR harness that runs from the passenger footwell to the rear compartment.
This harness does NOT connect to the wires that are mentioned above. It connects to as set of wires (with connectors on the end) that are on the RIGHT side of the passenger footwell compartment.

There is a great picture of the harness connections here that helped me: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...highlight=iPod

Sorry, but now I'm not sure if this connection for the adapter is correct. My battery was dead, so maybe the orange wire shouldn't have been connected. The unit was automatically turning off (it appeared) when I turned off the car. Not sure what was causing it yet.
I've connected the YELLOW wire from the passenger footwell area to the yellow AND red wires on the Drive+Play unit. The orange wire from the passenger footwell bundle is not being used now.
This connection setup powers the unit on and off correctly, but time will tell whether this is what caused my battery to be drained.
