Are you happy with the current version of your system? Do you feel like things need a big change up?
For me, this car has been the biggest audio challenge. Perhaps because I'm more discerning now, and the interior is not that good for audio... And I'm on my second brand of high end speakers, second round of amplifiers, and revision 4 or 5 of the whole thing. I think finally, its to the point, where I can say "it sounds pretty good. With everything it plays." I think the biggest factor was the addition of the subwoofer.
The rear speakers I don't even mind. I've actualy put ensolite behind the rear speaker grills to help attenuate higher frequencies. When they are on, they are faint, but they widen my soundstage without drawing it back. I think I'll leave 'em on all the time.
Are you happy with your system, or itching to pull it and start over? Do you have the itch to start throwing money at a problem, or learning a new skill to aid in your search for sq?
I'm happy with mine right now, but I am always looking to try something different, lol. I guess you could say I'm constantly changing things around.
We're all a bunch of Scotts around here.
The more you learn, the more likely you are to want to start tweaking on things. Version 2 of my C6 is coming, most of version 1 will wind up in my daily driver. And so on, and so on, and....
I am torn right now into which car is getting which component/amp set up. I am deadening the truck with full raamat bxt/ensolite combo over this last weekend and the rest of this week and found the doors to be akin to swiss cheese, just holes everywhere. So I am torn between moving the 3 way from the vette into the truck (midbass in door and mid/tweet in kicks that are enroute to be modded) or just putting the Pioneer 720prs set into the kicks and being done with it and moving the tweets in the vette to the a pillars and being done with that too heh. We'll see.
As for satisfied? Never satisfied or I would need a new hobby When I get the rides situated I end up building some home speakers or swapping a few drivers out or something, I have a feeling that the truck will be the experimentation ride.
I have however been happy with my driver/amp selections I have made over the past couple of years. Although I do have a feeling that the 720 tweets may be a bit harsh and will end up getting swapped to an LPG or Seas.
I will revist this in about 2 weeks when the truck is all finished.
it never ends for me, especially with you guys here. I want a carpc and have for a while now, thanks scott . I want to change my substage, my components, and amp rack
But i am happy with what I have right now. so that keeps me sane

Kale, my first reaction was to laugh. You change things so often. But I have to admit, I haven't even installed my system yet and I'm wondering if I should add another amp or switch from my plans for MOMOs all around to maybe something else?????
Like everything else in life, once we achieve a goal we must raise the bar so we'll have something to work toward. We're doomed by our own ambition.
On a scale of 1-10, i'm about a 8 on my current system. I'd like to raise the imaging on my system a little, but i can't afford the a-pillar tweet mod yet. Probably a major problem with my system is the poor quality MP3s i'm playing (most are 192kbps because i ripped them back when all i had was windows media player)
The next system i have planned involves a similar amp rack setup but using the PDX digital amps, and fiberglass instead of MDF and carpeting. I'm also thinking about looking into Alpines F#1 status 3-ways with the mid and tweet in custom pods near the A-pillars.

I'm am reasonably happy with my set up, the only thing I would add is a set of audio control EQX'S. I have an old set of EQT'S but they have been installed in my last 4 cars, and are a little rough looking to put in the vette, but better control over the EQ curve would be a big plus. The EQ chip that's in my Pioneer HU can only do so much.

Do you have a lot of peaks and valleys in your response? in my experience, just a simple aim change on speakers makes a much nicer difference than an EQ.
i don't have the chemicals for the fiberglass and my upholstry skills are horrible with vinyl.
I've been using the cheap stuff at Walmart. Including one time use brushes. The expensive part is getting a nice respirator (which is absolutely essential.)
You can always sand and paint, if you don't like doing vinyl.
my painting skills are horrible too. Not to mention i have asthma so even the best respirator is going to leave me gasping for O2
Yeah, they are hard to breathe through anyway, so probably best you stay away from fiberglass resin entirely.
I'm going to remove my fiberglassed a pillars, but the tweeters are at a funny angle that's not totally cool with all tweeters. I'll probably sell them cheap (like $50 a pair) They aren't covered and still need lots of sanding to smooth out. (or vinyl to hide it)
