dynamat's thermal qualities?

None of them are designed to insulate. But most of the companies do have insulating products as well. These could easily by placed over deadening products in the areas you needed insulation. I used Second Skin Audio products and have been very happy with the results. (http://www.secondskinaudio.com/) They have tauted thermal properties on Damp Pro, which is what I used mostly.
...from their website.
"Noise & Heat Damping Mats
This should be the first product you use in any heat and noise damping project.
You already know that Second Skin makes the best vibration damping mats with the highest heat rating in the industry, but did you know that Damplifiers’ thick aluminum foil constraining layers makes and incredible heat barriers?
It is no accident that the very same qualities that make Damplifier™ and Damplifier Pro™ the very best sound deadeners you can buy also make them high temperature insulation champs.
Damplifier™
Damplfier™ is the best thermal acoustic damping mat on the market. One layer of Damplifier™ will reduce more heat and structure borne noise than 2 layers of many other popular mats and ceramic coatings. This is value at its best - no compromise quality at a price anyone can afford. Simply cut, peel and stick Damplifier™ on any metal surface of your vehicle to keep it cool and quiet. You won't find a better better valued thermal acoustic damping mat on the market.
Damplifier Pro
Damplifier Pro is without exception the strongest, most amazing thermal acoustic damper on the market! If you are looking for the one product that does it all this is a close as you will ever come. Damplifier Pro™ is almost 20% thicker than our closest competitor with a heat rating over 200 degree higher as well. If you want to keep your car cool and quiet, Damplifier Pro will do it better than any other product around."
Hope this help,
