Hey guys i just upgraded my deck to an Avic D3, using the Peripheral GM24B to the stock speakers. The sound quality is no comparison to stock and ideas? Also the volume control is a little out of whack as well.

While I agree that the stock speakers and amp are crap too it shouldn't sound any worse anyway so you may have something wired wrong. Did you hook up the speaker level outputs from the D3 to the Peripheral? Which option in the GM24's installation instructions did you use, 1 or 2?
I was done by a local shop, I am not sure which instrustions they used. I would have expected it to sound a better than the stock deck.
I would expect it to sound practically identical, perhaps SLIGHTLY improved. Of all the components you can replace in a system, the one that will make the smallest difference are the drive electronics. That's not to say that some heads don't sound better than others, cause they flat out do, but speakers make the biggest difference, amplifiers next, then head.

If you are using the GM24B audio connections you are probably still using the stock amp. There have been other posts where people have been disappointed with this setup too. I am using the AVIC-D3 internal amp connected to the stock non-bose speakers and it sounds as good as the speakers can get.

No flames intended, but I'm not sure I agree. Run good speakers from the stock HU, then run the same speakers from a high end HU and the differences will be obvious. This of couse assumes that just about any high end HU will have gobs more power, adjustments, crossovers, etc.
Speakers are very subjective. Compare bose to mb quart and you have a good argument, but compare focal to rainbow and tell me which one sounds better.
To me, anybody who spends good money on components, amps, and subs and hooks it to the stock HU are not realizing the true potential of their investment. Its the whole lipstick on a pig analogy.
Its just a combination of all the components to make the complete package. Just changing one or the other is a bandaid and sooner or later your just going to have to rip it off and change it all out to get the full potential. Am I saying you need to go all out on components and amps adn subs? No. What I am saying is that you bought a very nice HU and why not finish it right with some components, amp and sub stage. If you don't have the money right now, no worries. Your just gonna have to live with it till you do get the money to upgrade. I did mine in stages as well. You should get a slight improvement over the stock HU, but you can only get so much better.
