But the laser jammer is legal. Would love to see pictures of it mounted on a vette. They say Hawaii uses all laser, Florida they say uses 50/50. I wish everywhere would go laser again. I could actually speed again
Has anyone else noticed that speed limits are in place to keep stupid people from killing themselves....and from killing smart people who are trying to avoid them.

The fine for speeding only is also far less as well. For the record, if a radar emitter is jammed, most models will also display "Jam"... rather than your speed. You are more likely to be stopped for this than a 10+ over the limit.

Not only will you be fined for the traffic infraction, you will also run into a federal fine from the FCC and possible (although unlikely) criminal prosecution.

There is a lot of bad info in this thread. First, it would be prohibitively expensive to jam a radar gun. You either need a high power transmitter on all 3 active radar bands (high high bux), or you need a jammer that works just like the equipment you see in an Air Force radar plane (even higher bux). Not to mention that it is illegal and against a bunch of FCC laws and will get you big fines and prison time. There have been and may still ( I don't follow this market) be mfrs that claim they have a device that confuses radar. It's bunk. One mfr was (may still be) Rocky Mountain Radar and in an interview with a car mag, the prez admitted his radar jammer didn't work, but he didn't care because he offers a money back guarantee and only 25% of his customers ever ask for their money back. Why he is still in business is a mystery to me.
Next, yes there is RF (radio frequency) absorbing material available and yes it is a little pricey and nothing secret about it at all. Want some? Try here, I use it in my work(I;m an EE): www.eccosorb.com
Several companies make laser jammers and they work! They work by using a number of infrared LED's that are continuously pulsed or pulsed when a laser detector alerts and these pulses do prevent a laser gun from measuring your speed. Devices claiming to ,"diffuse", lasers, are total bunk. Your car, at the distances police usually get a speed measurement, their laser beam covers your entire car. A dinky diffuser isn't going to do squat!!!
Whether you have a device that defeats radar or laser, the police can charge you with interfering with police business if their state doesn't specifically ban either device (or even if they do). Also, a police officer with experience with radar or laser is going to notice right away that your car specifically defeated his speed gun (radar guns have an audio signal that allows the operator to tell if a jammer is being used or if he/she is receiving a normal reflected speed gun signal) and you will likely be stopped for a car inspection to find out why.
My advice is to obey the posted speed limit!

Most states will automatically yank your license if you go over a certain speed. Chances are if you jammed them and slowed down, the worst they could do is pull you over and give you a fightable ticket because they have no proof. Most LEO's (no disrespect intended to the good ones) are so damn lazy, they would just go after easier targets.

There is bad info on this thread, unfortunately, most of it just came from you. It is not prohibtively expensive to jam a radar gun, I know because I had two jammers that were proven over and over again to work. I believe they are no longer made, because frankly they were illegal. The rocky mountain stuff was always a joke. The real radar jammers were like 750 dollars back in 1994. Not 299. The blinder laser jammer appears to work. Is it illegal? Why would it be?? As long as your state doesn't have laws governing it, how is that illegal? Do you honestly think the cop has nothing better to do than to start searching around your car for something that simply could be the fact that his gun didn't operate correctly?

robl45,
And what company made this radar jammer? I don't know of any company that ever made a radar jammer that did anything except take money from uninformed people.
Ask any police officer if they would ticket you for jamming their laser gun. If you fly by and they get no reading and got readings before and after you, they know you are interfering with their legitimate work and you could be cited for interfering with a police investigation. Few things **** off a patrolman more than defeating his/her measuring vehicle speed.

It was 10 years ago, i don't remember the names, basically mom and pop operations I belive, took over a year to get one of them fixed as they were waiting for parts.

As you said, if he got readings before and after me. So when he figures out something is wrong and I'm well down the highway, he's gonna come after me? You gotta be kidding, he is gonna give up easy revenue to come after the guy with the "supposed" laser jammer?
