Upgrading C5 audio?
Ive searched and read the faq, but im still a little hazy on this. If I plan to replace the HU AND speakers, what adapters if any will I need. Can I just get a pigtail adapter to plug my aftermarket HU to the stock wiring harness? And then a similiar pigtail for the speakers? I get the idea there is more to it than this but cant figure out what and why. Both of those adapters are available for around $10, so I dont see why its such a huge deal. Ive also heard about aftermarket HU causing problems with DIC, door chimes, etc. Is there anything to this?

Head unit/speaker swap is the best way to go for an introductary audio system. The only fabrication you'll need to do is build or buy front speaker plates. You can use a pigtail adapter for your head unit however you will need to find and tap off of an ignition hot wire that's NOT on your stock harness for your remote turn on. Speakers shouldn't need any special wiring adapters.
