I have the stock Nav system in my 2007 coupe and had my JL Audio 250/1 amp and stealthbox installed at AL & ED's in Los Angeles the other day, and the installer told me that the amp remote turn on HAD to be wired so that the amp will only turn on when the engine is on, so it will NOT turn on in Accessory mode. Does this make sense? If the radio turns on in accessory mode, why can't the amp? Thanks.

I used the wiper circuit in the passenger footwell as a 12V trigger. This will work in accessory mode and shut the amp off when you shut off the car. The installer is probably referring to RAP, which is when the radio keeps going when you turn off the car but haven't opened the door yet. That is controlled by the serial data bus and can't be accessed without a special control module.

Okay, so if I take the remote turn on wire from wherever the shop attached it and hook it up to the wiper circuit in the passenger footwell, the amp will operate when I am in accessory mode? How do I find the wiper circuit?

Pull out the passenger floor mat and then at the front of the footwell flip the carpet forward. This will expose the fuse box. There's a chart there that shows you which circuit is which.
Ummm... I don't how to say this nicely so I am just going to say it. Your installer is a tool!

All you have to do is switch it to the "on" position and the amp will turn on when audio is present. The remote input then becomes an output to turn on other amps if you have them.
You'll also want to be sure that he has set the input sensitivity as outlined in Appendix B of the Owner's Manual. Chances are that if he did not notice the switch he also has not looked at a Manual either.
It's very important in general to set "gain" correctly, but it's particularly important when using this feature. If the sensitivity is set too high, the system can "motorboat" when you shut it off in signal sensing mode. When the switch is in the on position, the sensitivity also sets the threshold for the turn on circuit.
Bottom line is, you don't need a turn on with this amp.
Well, I tried turning on the Signal Sensing switch on the amp and adjusting the input sensitivity and the amp still does not turn on unless the car is in the run position. I called JL Audio tech, and he said that the signal going to the amp must not be strong enough to turn on the amp (he said this is the case sometimes). I then talked to Automotive Entertainment in Santa Monica (as referred elsewhere on the forum), and the guy there told me that there may be a part I can buy that will make the amp work with RAP on the C6. He will get back to me.
