Need some help trouble shooting
First I tried to wire the power side of the faceflate to the orange and white wire from the harness, no worky. Then I found a thread and talked to penta reminding me that the faceplate power needed to be spliced into the HVAC imumination wire (cream one on the end). I had the faceplate ground wire bundled into my other ground wires.
Now the stereo is picking up all sorts of loud buzzing, the plug that goes into the HU for the RCAs seem to be really touchy (if I wiggle it or move the hu around I get a bunch of crazy popping and loud crackling noise.
I disconnected the faceplate wires to see if that is the problem but I'm still getting all of the symtoms described above. I'm afraid I'm going to damage the components from the crazy popping sounds. I didn't change anything else. What could be going on? Should I try replacing the pigtail that goes between the HU and teh RCA's? I've checked all of teh other connections in the harness. All of the connections seem tight.

If you are staying with Pioneer and want to use the adapter, then you need to know what is compatible with the adapter and the new HU you want to buy.
According to Pioneer, that adapter is compatible with: Full Rotary Commander Control models: DEH-P9800BT, DEH-P980BT, DEH-P880PRS, DEH-P7800MP, DEH-P780MP, DEH-P6800MP, DEH-P680MP
Check here for the CD-IB100II: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...492523,00.html
Some of the newer Pioneer units just have a cable vs. the interface. You might be able to sell your adapter and go that way.
I have been looking at the Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS and I like the features it has. If it wasn't available, I'd probably go with the DEH-P980BT... but that's just me.
Hope this helps.
Mark
