74 Vette Dash Speaker Recommendation
I have the dash completely out of my 74 to seal up the A/C and heater system and other chores. While it is out, I have decided to replace the original dash speakers with something better.
I understand that the dash is not optimal for speakers, but given that for now that is all I am putting in, how good are the following choices?
Also, any first hand experience whether or not they fit without modification or interference with lower dash padding, and instruments?
1) Pioneer TS-G4641R (37.95 from cardomain.com)
2) Kenwood KFC-4675C (69.95 from cardomain.com)
3) Aftermarket speakers from ZIP Corvette and others? I believe that the Kenwoods sold by the aftermarket vette shops are the KFC-4675C.
My current radio is a Pioneer KEH-2929 Modified by Custom Autosound back in 1995 to fit the 68-76 vettes. It accepts 4-8 ohm speakers per the data tag on it.
Once again, I know dash is not acceptable for most folks, but for now that is all I want to do. I've lived with the factory ones for a while with no adverse affects.
Thank you in advance for any info on the above.
Warmest regards,
Rob K.
