Advice: Amp Install & Mounting / Changer
I am looking to get a clone stealthbox soon with a 10" sub. I see lots of pics with the boxes, but I never see the amps. Here are my questions:
1. Where would be a good location to mount the amp? I hear behind the seat is popular, but I'm not crazy about drilling in to that area.
2. Pics of your amp installs would be cool so I can get some ideas.
3. I have a 12 disc stock changer back there. I'm going to need to move that to accommodate the stealthbox. Where can I relocate that to? Are cable extensions available?
4. Where do you run the power cable for the amp?
5. Should I tap in to the speakers for my line input or is there another option (but still keeping the factory changer)?
Thanks.

2) there is an 'amp rack' install thread floating around and there is 'show off your ride' sticky that will show some pictures
3) put it in one of the side storage areas, you wont need an extension for one of the bins
4) run it to the battery...i think the c5 audio faq has some pictures
Once the board is mounted, place the carpet back (noting the position of the anchorboard) Here's the tricky part: to keep from destroying the anchorboard you need to pre-drill holes for the screws. I like to place painters tape or masking tape over the corners, measure exactly where the holes need to be for mouting and mark with a sharpie. Then drill the holes (keeping the tape on) place the amp on the mounting surface and mount using screws removing the tape ONLY once the screws are started in the holes. Tighten the screws and your amp is mounted.
My JL500 was mounted with this procedure (note: using the rear wall you can drill completely through the wall and out the back to the inside of the bumper and use bolts instead of screws for a more secure mount)
mounting board:

(i used a probe to make sure the mounting hole was aligned with the amp)

A far as running power /ground wires, this is greatly dependant on where you mount your amp. There are a few basic options:
power wire - through firewall near battery then:
a) through the passenger side door sill
b) along the driveshaft tunnel wall
Suggested grounding points:
a) Seat mounting bolt
b) stock grounding points in side panel
Well after reading all the info in the Audio FAQ and here, I've decided to get rid of the stock head unit and go with an aftermarket unit that has CD and iPod control, most likely an alpine.
I have an old alpine 6 channel amp that pushes 600w clean, works great so I will most likely use that to drive the 4 speakers and bridge the reaming 2 channels for the sub. I had it setup this way in my old car and it worked great.
This isn't an overnight project for me, I'm going to do take it slow...but this forum has been a wealth of information. I'll be sure to post my pics once I am done.
In addition, i have heard some cars with the q-logic box, and i hated the way that their base sounded, so i had a custom box built with two rockford fosgate 8in. subs mounted in it.
I have not included the pics, but i have the US Spec ipod adapter installed, and it sounds great. It works awesome with my touchscreen, and I couldn't ask for a better installation.
