I just ordered my entire stereo for my C6 coupe. This should be in sometime next week. I ended up with the Alpine PDX amp and planned to install it in the rear cubby.
Then I started thinking about installing it under the seat (passenger) and didn't know if anyone else had tried this. If you have did it fit? Did you screw it down (worried I will screw into something I shouldn't).
By the way I have a 1LT so the area under the passenger seat is open and doesnt have any seat electronics to get in the way.
Items ordered
Pioneer AVIC D3 (GMCO C6 Wiring Harness without OnStar or Bose)
Pioneer - ipod cable
Pioneer - Rearview camera
Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS 6-3/4" Component Speaker (nakidpart door mounts)
Alpine PDX 4.150 amp
Below are some pics. I have 3lt, so mounting under my passenger seat was not an option. I also got around the drilling problem by installing a board behind my amp. I pulled the carpet up, and placed a good amount of wood glue on the board and then bonded it to the car. This way i dont have to worry about drilling into my car, and i still have a good mounting spot.
In addition, i have heard some cars with the q-logic box, and i hated the way that their base sounded, so i had a custom box built with two rockford fosgate 8in. subs mounted in it.
I have not included the pics, but i have the US Spec ipod adapter installed, and it sounds great. It works awesome with my touchscreen, and I couldn't ask for a better installation.
How much does it affect the seat in terms of pushing it back? Do you lose a inch, 2 inches, 3, etc...?
Thanks,
Trey
I rarely sit in the passenger seat, however i can tell you that i lose about 2.5 inches of seat travel with the amp, and the mounting board combined. I am 5'10" and when i sit in the passenger seat i dont notice the difference, however i do push the seat all the way back to the amp. My fiance is 5'2" and when she sits in the passenger seat there is about 5 inches between where she has the seat positioned, and where the amp is.
Deserteagle83, what are the dimensions of your sub box and cubic feet, does it extend into the cubby hole, and can you still stow the top?
It's been a while since this installation, so i do not remember what the dimensions are, however i did have to use the storage compartment to stay within the specs of what Rockford Fosgate recommends for air space for the two subs.
