Default Radio/cd Help

I removed my Bose System and replaced it with a Sony Explode. I bought a GM wiring harness that wires into the Sony harness. Once plugged in, the CD works, but none of the speakers are working. I checked the wiring several, and all looks correct
Any idea what is wrong??

Help would be appreciated.

is your harness made for a bose system? if you just got a universal 88 and up harness, that is your problem. there are amps at each speaker so it requires a low level out to them and a non-bose harness won't give you that.

if it is a bose harness, you are running the speakers through the stock harness and you are still using the bose amps. that would defeat the purpose of changing out the stereo.

when i installed my navigation system i ran new speaker wire to all the speakers from the headunit. My advice is to do that and run the high level out right to the speakers. this way you by pass the problematic amps. also a good idea to change the speakers out because i think the bose speakers are lower ohms. lower ohms than what a headunit is designed for may break it.

You cannot use just the Bose speakers w/ an aftermarket HU; you need to buy a "converter" to change the signal from the new HU to one the speakers/amps can understand. The best bet is to replace the old crappy Bose w/ new speakers, it will sound 100% better.

Go to the Audio section of the forum and read the C4 sticky at the top of the section.

Good luck

I installed new speakers, although I didn't install an amp. I installed a new radio/CD player with new speakers, using the existing Bose wiring.

I see that I didn't mention the new speakers in my initial post.

you need to run wire from your headunit to each speaker

I too just installed a sony xplode stereo, mine is the one that you can take off the faceplate and hook up to you PC and download 1 gig of music onto.
I had read enough to know I did not want to use stock wiring harness. I simple ran four wires from the dash to the compartment behind the passengers seat, in there you will find a connector with four and only four wires that plug into the CDM, those four wires have your accesory, constant power, ground and your power antenea wire. Cut each wire one at a time and solder to the new wires that go to the dash, then run 16 gauge speaker wire from each location and tuck them up through the dash and out the opening where your tuner is located and solder the ends to your harness supplied by sony. You will have to buy an antenea extension to run up to the dash, and your finished. If you have any questions please let me know. oh, the four wires are yellow, orange, black and pink. yellow and orange are power, one is constant the black is ground (da, of course) and the pink is the power antenea. Now, when I turn off the key the stereo continues to operate until I open a door, just like factory....the antenea operates only when my source is the tuner and retracts when I play a cd or mp3 player. I hope this helps, its worth a little extra work.

Like said above, you need the PAC adapter to use an aftermarket radio with the bose speakers.

Part Number: OEM-1
The OEM-1 makes it easy to upgrade a factory ' premium' system, such as a GM Delco/ Bose® or a Ford/ JBL. Whether replacing the factory radio or amplifier, the OEM-1 is your 'plug and play' solution. The OEM-1 gives you a fast and accurate installation without the need to cut wires. The AOEM kits will also work for adding an amp to some GM vehicles without Bose® or with Monsoon.
