These rank as some of the best components I've ever listened to. The detail, clarity, smoothness, and transition are stellar. The silk dome tweet is loud and clear with little to no harshness. The mid range is warm and strong, the mid bass is enough to feel. I completed this part of the install in my rsx this weekend and will post pics in a different post. I just wanted to comment on my impression of these comps.

I am in no way affiliated with ED other than being one very satisfied customer.
I set the crossovers at 67hz and listened to my usual tuning music consisting of Heart (crazy on you), SuperTramp (long way home), and Styx (Mr. Roboto). After the stong mid bass portion of Mr. Roboto, I looked down at the goosebumps on my arms. I've never been so impressed with the SQ of a personal install before.
Ah well, I went though a huge classic rock phase a while back and have heard these songs a zillion times, so I know what to listen for. The horns in supertramp, the female vocals in heart, and the mid bass and keyboards in styx.
These days I listen to a lot of of a jazz (XM Watercolors or Sirius Jazz Cafe type stuff) also some classical if traffic is bad .
i love those comps and i want a set so bad to upgrade in my vette. Greg and I have installed them in quite a few diff vettes and other cars as well and couldn't be happier with the performance and the price. I am waiting for the 6800s to come out though.
Glad to hear about another happy listener with these comps
That's good to hear. I'm also considering the Ed 6500's. Can you tell me the main difference between the 6500's and the 6000s V.2? Are they worth the extra $? I'm also looking at the OZ 180 Cs. I haven't heard anything about them on this site but they come highly recommended by a local installer.
6500s have higher power handling but that isnt the biggest plus. midbass is alot stronger on the 6500s, as well the tweeter is just so smooth. I love the 6000s but the 6500s just blow them out of the water. IMO if you can afford em its worth the extra money. Also the 6500 crossover allows for an image tweeter
Could very well be, I know the 6000's look like the cdt cl61a's.
I read somewhere the crossovers are the same, but the woofers look a bit different. The dust cap, magnet, and connections are not the same. The basket does look identical though. Seems hard to believe they could just re-badge the CDTs and sell them as their own brand?

CDTs are mostly just rebadged Vifas anyway. The rebadging game is rampant in the audio world. I'm pretty sure Alpine's type X tweeter is a $15 vifa ring radiator, too.
