If anyone were to legitimately own these DVDs and not have the means to make their own backups for disaster recovery, PM me. I can make a backup of the West disk for you. I even have a backup with some C5 and C6 backgrounds.

I ran into some issues but my custom C5/C6 disk is now working. All requests filled.
what do you mean? can i download the disks and burn then to a dvd?
Yes. The ISO of the latest east and west disks are out on the internet via bit torrent (google it if you're not familiar with the technology). It's in RAR format so you'll need WinRAR (conveniently also on BT) to extract the MDS and MDF files. You can then burn the MDF file with something that will open MDF files like Alcohol 120% or UltraISO. you'll need a dual layer DVD burner and blank. I won't get into how to inject the custom backgrounds onto the disk because Pioneer has some things in place to try to keep you from doing so that make it interesting. PM me if you're interested in my off site disaster recovery or if you'd like to know how to inject wallpapers.

Nomad, what program did you use to burn the torrent. I downloaded the torrent and used Nero but I keep getting a "Invalid DVD-Rom inserted" message. I tried DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL disks, neither works.

Bud
Use a DVD +R DL disk, decompress the torrent with winRAR. Then burn the .MDS file using Alcohol 120% at 2.4x speed. Do exactly that and you will be golden.

Good luck.
Thanks Nomad, your right on the money, I tried it with Alcohol 120% and it worked like a charm.
I noticed on my latest east coast disk there are many areas where I am not able to zoom in tighter than 25mi... I have a Garmin C550 portable unit that has tons more detail... Are the newest disks more detailed??? I must admit it was disappointing to go from the Garmin to the Avic map...
All backup requests have been fulfilled to date. PM me if you need one. I started to see intermittent "Please insert appropriate disk" errors on the Dynex DL DVD's so I switched to Memorex and have not had a problem since. If you have a Dynex backup and experience this let me know.
