Tweeter Issues - beware

I purchased a JL Stealth from a local Tweeter because they were 50.00 cheaper than most other places... I did this on 7/31. As of yesterday they did not have it and had a "scheduled" delivery date of 8/31.
I called a few other places and ALL of them confirmed 3 to 5 days max for delivery, one place (and who I placed the order with) even called JL and confirmed they had them in stock.
I canceled my order this morning and ordered from another vendor (he even matched the price) and I will have it by Wednesday...
The worst part of this was the manager at Tweeter had to contact his "buyer" who told him that it was ok to refund my money, which indicated to me it had not even been ordered 18 days after taking my money...
Just an FYI to all!
Hope it works out for ya.
The only time I had a problem was with a rookie sales person who made a rookie mistake that I wasn't in the mood to deal with (the, "leave a deposit so I can hold this product" trick. I bothers me).
I have normally dealt with the same two or three salesmen over a 20 year period... no issues at all.
I am shocked that you had this experience, and if I was you, I would contact Tweeter corporate and let them know this kind of sloppy business is being conducted. From what I know, they won't tolerate this.

Tweeter seeks bankruptcy protection
By Se Young Lee, Boston Globe Correspondent | June 12, 2007
Struggling Tweeter Home Entertainment Group Inc., hit by declining profits from projection and flat-panel television sales and competition from large-scale retailers, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection yesterday.
Tweeter reported a $38 million operating loss in the first three months of the year in May, when it first issued warnings of possible bankruptcy. The Canton consumer electronics chain had been hurt by declining demand for projection TVs and rapid decline in price of flat-panel TVs. William Armstrong, an analyst with CL King & Associates, told Reuters that Tweeter's competition with Best Buy Co. and Circuit City "puts them in a very weak position."

That sucks.
Tweeter bought out a Mid-Atlantic chain called "Bryn Mawr Stereo" a few years back... it will be sad to see that all go away.
They did not get my business. I'll do it myself with the D3.
