I installed a Parrot 3100 in the ashtray of a C6. The unit works great. I used the special cable to match my blose stereo, so there was no cutting. Install was straightforward, but took a while. I was unsure the unit would fit the tray when I ordered, so wanted to post some pics. Note that the tray still closes
I pulled out the ash tray and the ash tray carrier (it snap fits in some plastic clamps, so can be put back in). I then cut a block of wood to match the depth I wanted, 2 sided taped it to the back of the tray, then 2 sided the parrot to the wood. Very sturdy, and was an easy fit. Can't see the wood-I was orginally going to paint it black but the Parrot covers it.
It would be reversable, but have no plans to....
The only downside, the tray cover still clicks shut fine, but the mechanisim that causes it to opn slowly came out with the tray carrier. I just slow it with my finger now. I could have cut the carrier to keep the arresting gear, but really made no difference to me
Thanks

Nice work. I finally got mine installed and working and I like it a lot. Wish they had a cheaper add on for an aftermarket system. The adapter costs something like $150 and thats almost as much as I paid for the parrot itself.

Thanks for the comment. I purchased my 3100 for $120 on line, the adapter cost more....I agree, crazy. The Blose triples the adapter cost, and it comes with an extra electronics box. I'm not sure how simple straight in wiring would be, given ths box--have to assume it has some functionality. I wanted to avoid cutting if possible, so went the easy route.
so you can't just pop the ashtray out and doubleside the parrot to the plastic? will it stickout too far? someone had an install where the parrot was mounted to the left side of the dash, right by the door, I may go that route for ease of use with the shifter.

I looked at just pulling the tray, would not have provided a flat mounting surface, and I think would have been out too far. Then I noticed the ash tray carrier just clips in. Used a scredriver and 30 seconds (or less) and it was out. Flat mounting service, built up some wood so that the unit was flush with the cig lighter level, and double sided taped in.
In the tray, visibility and reach are perfect in the "high gears" (2,4, 6). In the others,it is not perfect but can be done. If you set up voice dialing, very easy to use. I saw the other post, and that is a great idea. Driving the other day though, I tested that location and found that the reach required me to lean forward slightly to hit the buttons. In the tray, perfect reach. Plus with the tray, I can hide it by shutting the door. Both appear good locations though. If tall enough (long enough arms), the side mount might be a great spot. Either way, the unit itself works VERY well
Where did you mount your Mic? did you put it on the Apillar where the onstar mic is?

Turns out, the mute wire that is there on 05 cars and would have made this a simple install is not there on the 08 cars. I tried to jumper it and see if it still worked but apparently it doesn't so I will be spending 165 bucks with shipping to buy a harness for a bluetooth kit that cost me 129 shipped. insane!!!
Anyway, Can someone tell me how they mounted their mic? its hanging from the a pillar now, not sure if I should use one of the parrot mic holders or if there is a better way?

I used the very samll Mic mount with 2 sided tape on the botton. I stuck it to the top/center og the rearview so that it will pic up driver and passenger. It works very well in that location, everyone has been abler to hear me well. You do not see it unless you really look
SteveL2 initially had his in the same spot but moved it to the a pillar like the nav onstar mic because people couldn't here him very well.

Mine works fine there. A Piller and the rear view are roughly the same differnce, so do not know why it would matter. I have a loud voice, so could probably put it in the top and people could hear me
Did you angle your parrot at all in the ashtray? I think mine is in the same position as yours, its top is at the top of the ashtray area but you can barely get at the button. Plus there is a gaping hole at the bottom. I don't see any gaping hole at the bottom of your picture.

Mounting block
I found this older thread while researching Bluetooth options for my 2006 C6. The photo shows the block of wood I made to mount the Parrot CK3100. Note in McClendon's photos that the 3100 overlaps the plane of the plastic in which the 12VDC outlet is mounted. I made my block of wood to do the same.
The wood piece is 2-3/8" long (side-to-side in the car), 1-3/8" high, and is TAPERED in depth: 1" deep at the top and 1-1/4" deep at the bottom. This does indeed angle the Parrot slightly upward.
By the way, the taper works out to very close to 10 degrees, if you want to set up your table saw, radial arm saw, or chop saw to make one.
I glued it into place with silicone sealant (unlike double back tape, it will hold for a long time) and finished the front surface with clear lacquer to give the Parrot a good surface to stick to.
Very cool.... Nice install.
I have an 07 w/ stock Bose/nav HU and after market amps, speakers, and sub.
Do I need an adapter (if so,what model & #), or can I just splice in.
Anyone have a diagram or tips on what factory wires to splice into ?
My wife has the Parrot that was already installed on her work car and it works well. I played around with it now I'm jealous and want one too.
