1 din (single din) means the opening in the dash is about 2-inches high. 2 din (double din) means the opening is about 4-inches high. Your Corvette has a 1.5-din opening. One way to research units is at Crutchfield.com. I have used Crutchfield for research but never bought anything until this month. I took the Pioneer unit from a 4Runner and put it in a Ranger using the parts and instructions provided free. The new unit went easily in the 4Runner. I can't recommend a NAV unit, since I'm using a Garmin portable.
1 din is a flipout, 2 or dbl din is an indash screen. Stock your C5 is a 1.5 din meaning a 1din fits which is what most radios are. To go to a dbl din or 2 din you need to mod the dash. Kenwood, pioneer, eclipse are all good

I just bought a Pioneer AVIC-D3 (double Din). I am going for the cleaner look of the non flip out screen. Now I need to buy a bezel from C5Kidd, and a few other things, then Im ready to do some hard work modifying the dash.
JVC KD-NX5000, single din with NAV. a few small glitches with the nav, so Ive read anyway. Maybe it will be fixed with a software patch or something. worth looking into if you dont want to mod the dash
it's not hard work at all. check out the c5 car audio faq for a couple how-to's
it's actually very simple, time consuming maybe but definately not hard.
feel free to post any questions if you decide to tackle the bezel mod, there are a bunch of us on here that have modded our bezels (i'm on my third one )
