Default difference between the Bose and standard set up in 08

what are the differences? more speakers? subs?

also, if I install an after market deck, the shop has 2 harnesses, the XSVI-2003, and the GMOS04, which one do I use? They don't have perphial, or pack.

one thing for sure it's the 8" vs. 10" subs in the doors.

The differences in the system are as follows:

Base amp is Delco, Bose amp is... Bose

Base "subs" are 8" driven by the Delco amp, Bose are 10" and are self-amplified.

They both use three 3.5" drivers and two 5.25" drivers - doors & dash for 3.5s, 5.25s in rear, brand differences obvious.

I *think* the GMOS-04 is the correct adapter, I've never seen the other one referenced. But I've also never used it so I can't be certain.

Bose/Non-Bose does not effect which harness you use - Onstar is the deciding factor.

Well, it appears that I confused the techs at metra

One tech stated to use the GMOS-04, and another stated I should use the XSVI-2003.

Luckily the shop I work at stocks both parts, so I will try them both out as soon as my car arrives and report back

Thanks for the info TheKomoman btw, I live in East Norriton, only a few minutes from you

Looks like Metra has improved their site a bit and you can track down tech docs.

http://documents.victorytechnologies.../XSVI-2003.pdf

That does show the Vette 05-07 and assuming that it's true nothing has changed it should work fine. However Metra's docs don't mention chimes, so make sure that gets covered.

I grew up in East Norriton, gotten really far, all the way to Blue Bell.

Since you're local, what installer are you using? Installing heads in these things is too easy to pay a bunch of money (or idiot kids that don't know what they're doing!) for it.

actually, I am the installer.....a 1st class MECP installer. At the shop I work with, I actually end up doing all the vettes. We used to carry PAC Accessories, but no longer.

so yesterday, I messed around with 2 harnesses. It appears the GMOS04 is used if you would like to integrate the standard system, and bose.

the XSV-2003 is if you would like to bypass the factory system all together. It would also work for cars like impala that have Onstar to retain that, as well as chimes, RAP, and give ACC+. It also works on vettes, but you would have to re-wire the entire car, or use this if you intend on doing a 4 channel amp i would use this one, as it is cheaper.

This is only my assumption, I do not have my vette yet (TPW is 9/10) But whenever it is completed, and I take delivery, I will be re-doing the stereo, and will verify my assumption then

Hi Jimmy, can you tell me what I might need to install an alpine single din stereo to replace my base stereo in a new 2008 corvette and still retain all onstar, chimes, and other functions 100%?

You need the same thing for that you do for any other stereo - a dash kit and an integration module. The one most commonly used is the Peripheral GMAH24 (for non-Bose with Onstar). You also need the GMHCM with that for the chimes.

single din kit = 99-3304(METRA) GM1594B (Schosce)
antenna adt = 40-GM10(METRA) MDA-1B (Schosce)
Harness there are many different one, like the periphierial one THeKoman said, or you can use

GMOS-04(METRA) OR GM09SR(Schosce)
