In the car (any car), when you turn off the power while playing a CD it will resume playing from that same spot when power is turned back on. Is that a special feature to have a home CD/DVD player do this? Pause is OK for short term but you can still hear the disk spinning. This is especially annoying using audio books. TIA

Very few home CD players I've encountered have that "resume" feature. And even the ones that do it won't usually survive a power cycle. If that is something you really need it will likely be something you'll have to shop for specifically. You might actually want to test your home DVD players with a CD. Many DVD players do this so you can pick a movie back up where you left off if you haven't opened the drawer and that feature may carry over to CD's as well.
Alternately you may want to look into an iPod or other MP3 player. Audio books can be ripped to the hard drive and MP3 players have the resume feature practically universally.

One of my home theater systems works like this, even if the disc is removed and later reinserted. I find it ^%$%# annoying.
