Default PICS - CarPC Istall - Need Feedback!!

Okay, I finally have my CarPC installed in my 04 Z. I really need your feedback about the black painted Bezel. I am thinking about changing it back to the stock look instead of the glossy black. This would not have been possible without the help of ScottFX. He was extremely helpful. Bbentley40 was also very helpful.

I have a sprint wireless air card hidden in dash with a five foot antenna under the door panel so I have broadband access internet in my car. I can connect to my slingbox and watch DirecTV in my car.

I have my Alpine D310 HU controlling the sound. I mainly just use my Alpine for radio. I have navigation hooked up to my Alpine and didn’t want to remove it when I got the carpc so now I have two Navigation units in my car. Kind of a waste, but it’s the blackbird navigation so it is also used as a portable nav unit.

Specs:
VoomPC-2 Case
Motherboard:VIA EPIA EN15000 1.5GHz
Memory:1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 RAM
Vehicle Power Supply:M2-ATX 160W DC-DC
Hard Drive:100GB IDE
Optical Drive:Panasonic UJ-85J-B Slim Slot load DVD±R/±RW/+RDL/RAM Multi Drive
Operating System:WinXP Pro
Front End:StreetDeck North America
Lilliput 7” Transflective Sunlight Readable Monitor

Pics are Kind of Dark and weird looking but it’s a new camera so I don’t know how to fix it.

Pic of the car from the outside

Alpine D310 Opening

Alpine D310 Open, looks weird when thie is open, but I hardly ever use in and it's closed most all of the time.

Close up of VGA screen and HU

Just a pic of my subs and amp

Shows how the AC controls are at the bottom now.

This is my Favorate pic I took. I like the way the black looks in this picture but I really need your feedback to see if I'm going to keep it glossy black or back to the stock look.

Still have to straighten out the carpet and hide a couple more wires, but this is where I mounted the Computer.

looks good dude. Personally I like the satin textured look, but if you look at my installs I tend to be more plain-jane about my installs.

That screen is amazing too! it's amazing how bright it is. I can't wait to fire mine up! how do you like street deck? i'm considering upgrading my mobo and going with that. does it run fine on your via board?

congrads on your setup, how do you like it?

I like streetdeck but It's a bit confusing to me. I am trying to make my own skin and it's not going to well. I havent used any of the other frontend software so I don't know what to compare it to but I like it allot.

I think your right about the bezel color. I am almost positive I'm going to change it to the stock look.

Overall I am very happy with everything. It's going to take awile to get everything the way I like it.

And the screen thats in right now is not the sunlight readable screen. I have this one in temporarily untill mp3car.com ships me the good one. The one thats in right there is the lilliput 629. I think it looks bright just cause of the way the camera is set and theres a thunderstorm moving in when i took it.

A few more pics..

This is a power shutoff switch so I can turn the monitor on/off with just pressing this button. sometimes I don't want the screen on but I don't want the computer to shutoff.

Welcome to the club. Very nice install! I also prefer the stock look, as you can tell from my pics. I need to update my system, so I was going to look at Street Deck, but so far I have no complaints about Frodo. I am going to SEMA next month, should see a lot of new Car PC stuff this year. Hopefully some more optiosn for anti-glare touch screens!

Oh, and the trackball is invaluable, I would highly recommend that mod.

you know, better then a track ball; since you're using streetdeck, i'd recommend the touchpad and take advantage of the gestures functions in s.d.

I just got done with a CarPc install in my 94 coupe. I will get some pics up over the weekend.
Have you tried Centrafuse? So far I like this front end the most. I have tried froto, roadrunner, and Media Engine.
My trial ran out on Centrafuse so now I have to purchase it.

What are you guys doing for an internet connection? I have WiFi, but also just bought a D-Link moble router for my Verizon Aircard. Have havn't been able to get it configured right yet. I have heard that I dont want it connected all the time because some people on the forum (mp3car) have gotten $900 bills from Verizon. Since I only drive the car 3-4 times a month, this shouldnt be an issue.

I personaly like a satin black on the trim pieces.

Thanks for the feedback. I am learning to love streetdeck. There navigation is AWSOME.

I am using a sprint wireless aircard and it works great. I have had faster speeds with verizon but there is no limit with sprint. I have heard allot of stories from people getting there sevice cancelled from verizon. I use my Sprint card all the time.. Slingbox is a great feature for the car also. Not;hing better than watching Directv in the car.

Glad to be apart of the CarPC Club!!

Yea, I can only imagine the new stuff thats going to be coming out. When I get my CarPC done I will have to upgrade to the new stuff.

Your install looks Sooo Good!!
I have the wireless keyboard with the trackball in it but I really like the way you have your trackball built into the car. I am pretty sure I have seen your car on other websites.

i have been doing so much research on mp3car.com, I can't belive I missed that. That is a really cool setup with the touchpad. I love the streetdeck functions. Really easy while your driving to switch songs and search. That touchpad would really help. Oh, and Scott... I have decided to get my bezel done with the stock matte look. Will that LeatherMagic place do everything that I need or what?
