I know that there are a lot of c4's out there that have sucky stereos and speakers. when I got my 84 it had the worst sounding speakers ive ever herd coming from a car., - I LOVE MUSIC - so I got out my tools and got rid of all the stock speakers and replaced them with quility pioneer units, then I got a new head unit that I liked, ( with mp3/ Ipod compatable plug in port ) and got it all wired up. it sounded great. but it wasnt loud enough for me. I got a 4 channel amp and sub to go with it, and wired up the rear 6by9's to it along with the 12" woofer.
and my driving experience has never been the same.
my I pod plugs right in to my stereo face plate, and I have every piece of music I own at my fingertips. its great.
I promise you that if you upgrade your car stereo and get your favorite music cranking, ( and it sounds loud yet clean, clear and crisp ) you cant help but have a good time. I spent about $800 on my car stereo upgrade equipment and I believe it was the best money ive spent on the car yet. if your corvettes stereo sucks, I definately say upgrade.
it realley makes driving the vette even that much better.
My 96 had a alpine head unit when i got it. so far it sounds great up to the 23 volume then it gets bad fast. I'd rather spend my money on a exhaust first i think.
I too love music, and have an aftermarket system in my DD. The DD has a sony head unit, seperate alpine 4 channel amp for mids and highs, and rockford fosgate amp to drive the woofers. SO I get it, I'm 38 and still love loud clear music expecially in the car. However, I just picked up a 93 vert in prestine condition with the factory anemic delco/bose setup. I am very hessitant to make it non-stock, I can't bring myself to change it out. I do however have no love for the stock exhaust and have it's replacement on order. Had to draw the line somewhere
I want to put a new stereo in my '85 so bad I can taste it, but I need to wait until I don't have the rest of the car apart every other day. I'll probably start on the stereo project when I move onto the interior of the car.
