I'll be diving into the CF archives as well as the FSM later in the week but I was just wondering if this has happened to anybody else. I was driving a long listening to a CD when suddenly nothing. No crackle, no pop, just silence. I tried turning it on and off but nothing. Usually, with the power off, the time of day is displayed. Your run of luck lately has been atrocious, sorry to hear of the latest. Start by checking all the fuses with a test light, I seem to recall there being more than one fuse but could be wrong.
If it has power and ground I can recommend Dr. Don highly, he is the man.

Thanks Jim, will do. Of course, if it is a fuse, then what made it blow? And yeah, if it has to be repaired Dr. Don would be the guy I'd send it to. Great idea about giving him a call too...
Before I started testing circuits with a DVOM in anticipation of pulling the radio and shipping it off to Dr. Don, I swapped out a couple of identical 5 amp fuses (#4 and #40) and the radio started working again. I then reinstalled the original fuses and the radio still worked. All I can think is that one of the fuses was a bit loose or corroded and the act of removing and reinstalling them reseated it and/or rubbed off the corrosion...
