Voltage reduction

I need an inline voltage reducer to take the vette's 12v DC and reduce it to between 3-5 v DC

Anyone know where I can aquire these ?

Long as you're not looking for anything with a high current draw, something like this should work:

That would be good if he were an electrical engineer but judging by his question, I don't think so.

Go to Radioshack and ask for a 12v cigarette lighter power adaptor. They have universal ones with various output voltages and connectors on tap. If you want to install it permanently, just cut off the lighter socket.

p.s. Be very careful of your polarity.

I dont think he needs to be an ee to wire it up. basically you need your ~12v, ground and then the third pin will be your 5volt output.

OK, I am not an EE, but I can learn

So I see three contacts l l l based on your post I connect the 12v + to one of the outside contacts, the 12v - to the other outside contact,
and my 5v+ to the center contact ??
