Default Rear Speakers are too low

I put a aftermarket speaker box in the back of my 77 Vette, and the volume is way lower than the 2 front dash speakers. What could cause this? Is there a way i can tell if I have my plus and minus hooked up the right way? What would happen if i just ran the rear speakers parallel off the front speaker wires?

Thanks in advance!!

Running speakers in parallel will cause load issues. Keep them seperate per channel.

Are the front speakers a different size/power handling than the fronts? Can you provide make/model#s ?

Running an aftermarket set of speakers, parallel off of another "live" set is a very bad idea. Between the set (indeed a set now, per side) can effectivly HALF the ohm load.

ie: 4 Ohm, to 4 Ohm in parallel = 2 Ohm.
4 Ohm, to 4 Ohm in Series = 8 Ohm
Now since most car speakers are 4 Ohm, making a 2 Ohm load, and allowing the anplifier to generate more power into less load, thus creating more strain on an amplifier not meant for that load, is very bad.

The best thing, if you would like to "add" speakers to an existing system is have them installed with their own amplifer. I also suggest having this done by someone who knows car audio, and corvettes.
