Upgraded car stereos are overwhelming. Where do I get started? I only know anything about good home audio (and I don't think Linn makes mobile audio components :) ) I have simple criteria:
1) I want kick-butt sound, not whatever some schmuck at circuit city thinks I should get
2) If at all possible, I want to keep the factory CD changer. If not, I want to mount a CD changer in that location.
3) I like speed-controlled volume.
4) I'll sacrifice all of the above for a cool enough head unit that talks (e.g. Sony Voice Guide). :)
So I need a good amp that takes line-level inputs, good subs behind my seats, tweeters in the A pillar, new mids in the door, + ???? How do I choose? Is there a good newbie guide/FAQ hiding around here anywhere?
Re: How the heck do I sort out my options? (eison)
If you want to keep all the features of the stock stereo then use the preamp outputs to feed a sub amp and connect pillar mount tweeters in parallel with the rear speaker wires behind the HU.
If you don't like it, you can re-use the sub system later.
