Default Got my C6 speaker replacement gear...

So I already have a JL Audio Stealthbox and a JL 250/1 amp running it. I've finally decided that the rest of the factory setup just doesn't live up to what I'd like to achieve. In my previous C6 w/o NAV I didn't notice it as much, but I think for whatever reason, the NAV system just isn't as nice from an audio standpoint. Things seem more muddy.

Anyways, I got replacement speakers for the doors and the rear. I'm just going to disconnect the center dash speaker. Also got Pipe's speaker mounts and a JL 300/4 amp to power the speakers. Going to have to move things around a bit in my rack, but shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Fronts: Focal 165V1 Polyglass 6.5 Components
$201.99 shipped

Rears: Focal 130CA1 5.25
$109.98 shipped

Amp: JL Audio 300/4
$338.78 shipped

Speaker Mounts: Pipedreams'
$50 shipped

Ok, got everything put in today. WOW! The difference is night and day and then some! I can really turn it up LOUD and it sounds clear without any muddy distortion. At normal volume everything is more clear and spatial without that flat mid-level sound throughout. Cost a bit more than they quoted for the install, but it took them a bit longer. They put a Power Distribution Block in for the two amps, which took a bit extra. Not too big a deal though, but in the end it sounds great. It really makes having the JL Stealthbox sound much nicer in the overall mix.

Front Door Speakers w/Dynamat Extreme around the plates, also some behind the speakers:

That looks like it should be a nice set-up. Let us know how it goes. BTW, how do you like the JL? I have that on my list of things to buy for the holiday's.

The Stealthbox is fantastic! Definitely hits a lot harder than you might think. Turns the whole interior into an enclosure and sounds like you've got a lot more back there... That's why I needed to upgrade the rest of the setup...it just couldn't balance out with such good bass and flat everything else.

Looking forward to your impressions post-install.

Looks like you put a coat of flat black on my speaker plates, looks good! Thanks again for the order.

Can I ask who online you got your JL Audio amp from? I've had trouble sourcing my JL stuff due to the "licensed" retailer aspect...

Ya, I wasn't going to spend $1000+ for an aftermarket NAV interface and so on.

Sonic Electronics

http://www.sonicelectronix.com

They said there we a licensed retailer...and one of the lowest prices I could find. There were a few other online stores with lower prices, but it was because they weren't licensed and Sonic wouldn't match their prices because of that.

Well they may have told you they were licensed, but this says otherwise....

Oh well...I don't really care about the factory warranty. I've never used one in as long as I can remember.

System looks great. I especially like your amp rack. Do the amps overheat being covered like that? I have a 450/4 and 300/2 in mine but I like the idea of anyone not seeing this equipment.

No I didn't do the install myself...I wish i knew more about installing this stuff so I could save myself a few hundred bucks here and there each time something is done.

I haven't had any issues with heat, but I don't blast it too loud for too long. But even when I have it's not really an issue. If things start to warm up, I can just lift the top off a bit and let it air out. No big deal.

as stated, JL's only authorized online seller is crutchfield.

I used to deny warranty claims all the time when I worked at a jl shop

btw, where did you get that amp rack? I was gonna build one similar to that

Rack was built by the dude at Tweeter...he did a really nice job. He came up with the idea of putting the back hatch cover that was removed for the Stealthbox into the design as a storage area...which is now more of a vent since I had to put the other amp in that space.

But I love how it blends and looks stealth...doesn't scream "hey i have an expensive system in here!"
