Default Retrieving codes for seat control module?

Is there any particular function I am supposed to use to get the codes that are set for my seat control module? For example, something beyond a simple reading of codes? I use AutoZone, and I'm not sure they tell me all the codes available. I think if I asked them to, they would, but I'd also have to tell them how. Anyone know how to acess the SCM codes? PS: I checked the fuse, and it's fine; so my next step I figure is to check the connections for corrosion under the drivers seat. But if that's not it, it could be the SCM, and that is next step. Help in advance anyone?

Also, does anyone know what is wrong if 6 way seat control (driver side only), telescoping steering wheel and (perhaps) memory button all go out at same time?

Doug

You can get every code you need right from the DIC.

1. Press RESET to clear any/all alarms on the DIC display.
2. Press and hold OPTIONS.
3. Press FUEL 4 times.

Your DIC will enter diagnostic mode. It will start flashing your codes automatically. Press any button to enter manual scanning. You can scan the codes by using the various buttons on the DIC. Press and hold RESET to clear the codes. To exit the DIC scanning mode, press the button that switches you from US/Metric.

Look here for a list of the DIC codes:

http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the directions on how to get codes using DIC system and the link to the codes list. I have a problem. I have a code set in A6-SCM which is: B0856H. I checked the DIC several times to make certain this is what it said, and I'm sure it says this code. But the list in the link you sent me, (the stengel.net/diccodes.htm), does not show that particular code ! And that is a problem to me. Do you happen to know what that code stands for? I note I have a 2004 C-5, while Mr. Stengel appears to have (among others) a 2003 C-5. Perhaps they added a new code for the 2004 model??? Do you know what it means?? The 6 way seat doesn't work in any direction; (note that the back of the drivers seat works fine). And there are no codes set in the memory section either. Thank in advance if you can reply, or help me, I would like that very much. Doug, Waterford, Michigan.

Doug,

Man, I sure don't. My C5 is a 1997 model so I don't have the codes for a 2004. Maybe someone else here has a list?

I know you can get the list from the factory manuals... maybe someone here will be so kind as to look it up for you?!?!

Mark

EDIT to add: If you find that you need a new seat module, get up with Gene at Gene's Kar Shop. (Supporting Vendor) I got one from him a while back for a good price. (Turns out I didn't need it... my seat switch got soaked at the car wash and it needed to be replaced instead.) I still have the module, but I don't know if it will work on a 2004. If so, I'll let it go for what I paid for it. ($65 if memory serves.)

Thanks for the advice. And the list of 2003 codes, MOST of those are going still be in use in the 2004, unfortunately for me, I had to get the (probably) ONE code that isn't in the 2003 !

Let me do some more research on finding out the code; and also seeing if a 97 SCM matches with the 2004 SCM (but I kinda doubt--why would they have a new SCM code, like I do, if they are still the same?? see what I mean?).

And thanks for the new idea on checking out the seat switch.

I will have to wait until I find out all these answers before I can even consider buying your 97 SCM; as it all depends on those answers. Thank you for all your help! -doug

Check fuse #4 in the passenger seat footwell.

Or

Circuit Breaker # 35.

An "H" after the code means it's history and is no longer active.
