I have a customer how bought a 1LT and now wants to upgrade his speaker system to the Bose system. Can he use the single disc head unit or does he need to get the 6 disc unit. Thanks for the help.

Do your customer and yourself a favor and send him to a stereo shop and have an aftermarket system installed. The Bose system is crap, it may be different sounding crap than the base system, but crap regardless. Money & time far better spent for real results.
I am not disagreeing with you. However, he wants the car to be "stock". This is the reason for upgrading to the Bose system. Soundwerks in Scottsdale is doing the install.

Wow... um... he wants it stock but he wants to change a 1LT to Bose. OK, rather interesting definition of "stock" he has there.
Honestly I have no idea if it can be done because it's never something I would consider doing. In addition to different speakers and amp, the Bose system has a mic for auto-volume. I don't know if it's required to put it in or not.
Alternative to suggest to him if that "stock" appeal is cosmetics... you can keep the stock head by tapping it's low-level output, throw an Alpine PDX amp in one of the rear cubbies and run aftermarket speakers in the doors. Would get way better sound (even with the crappy stock head) and probably not even cost any more.
Well, I appreciate the help anyway. I know a lot of people have upgraded from the stock Bose system....but he just wants factory parts added to the car. He was able to purchase the Bose speakers for $150 locally. Not bad IMHO. I would have to think I he had the stock 6 disc head unit and a set of the stock Bose speakers in a pile in his garage that they could be installed and function in his car.
I don't know who the author of this is, but here is a complete write-up which will walk you through the whole process. I would still consider going aftermarket instead of the Bose.
As a reasonable alternative to converting to the Bose, he may want to just stick some cardboard cups on his ears and will get the muddled sound. I thought I could live with the Bose, but pulled the speakers and put in BAs. The Vette is the worst Bose system I've heard in a car. My wife's 350Z is at least good if not great....
